Bellagio, solo Bellagio

With a distant yell of “Bellagio, solo Bellagio.” Our journey to Lake Como, Italy began. Kimberly, Mark, and I, embarked on adventure and relaxation, as we set out on a wine and hiking escapade.

The morning greeted us with the promise of exploration as we embarked on a long hike through the narrow alleys andhiking, wine, rogue valley, amazing wine, friends cobblestone staircases of an old-school European town. It was like stepping back in time as we meandered through the ancient streets and alleys.

As we ascended higher, our anticipation grew, eager to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty that awaited us. However, our hopes of breathtaking vistas were dashed as we found ourselves mostly enclosed by the towering walls, with only fleeting peaks of the beautiful scenery..so much for a self guided hike.

Undeterred by the lack of panoramic views, we pressed on, fueled by our shared sense of adventure and the promise of hidden gems and a hard earned lunch awaiting our discovery.

Returning to our hotel after our self-guided exploration, we decided to continue our journey of discovery, this time through the charming streets of the town. It wasn't long before we stumbled upon a quaint wine store tucked away in a quiet corner, its shelves adorned with bottles of local vintages just waiting to be uncorked.

With Kimberly leading the way and a thorough grilling of the shop steward, we selected two bottles of Syrah (after all this was a business expense and we were researching amazing Syrahs), eager to unwind after our eventful morning. Armed with our newfound treasures, we set off in search of the perfect spot to enjoy our impromptu wine tasting.

Our quest led us to a hidden patio tucked away from the bustling streets, furnished with simple plastic chairs that whispered promises of relaxation. As we settled in, the challenge arose – how to open the bottle without a corkscrew? But with a bit of ingenuity and determination, we soon found ourselves savoring the Syrah, poured into makeshift plastic cups.

As we raised our glasses in a toast to friendship and adventure, laughter filled the air, mingling with the soft sounds of the evening. We shared stories of our past adventures, reminiscing about our amusing hike and reveling in the joy of being together in this magical place.

In that fleeting moment, amidst the beauty of Lake Como and the warmth of friendship, we found solace, laughter, and a renewed appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. And as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a glow over our surroundings, we knew that this was a worthwhile wine tasting moment.

Cheers,

Kirk
